A Heart for God
January, 19 2025 | Bible Engagement ProjectI Samuel and II Samuel contrast the first two kings of Israel. King David had a heart for God. King Saul did not. When David sinned he cried out to the Lord asking for forgiveness. Saul tried to manipulate God for his own gain and reputation. When Saul sinned he made excuses and blamed others. This is a caution to us as Christians that we must have a heart for God. Even if we have real authentic experiences with Jesus, it is possible to lose our love for Him and move away from Him in our daily lives. We will then live to please ourselves rather than to please Him. Ask God to search your heart. He will meet you where you are and bring you to Him through the mighty act of Jesus on the cross.
