Struggle Against Sin

March 10, 2024 | Romans

Our Christian lives include the tension between living in this world and living in God's Spirit. The tension of being between salvation and continual temptation and sin. We agonize over the reality that we are not the men and women that we want to be, and not who God has called us to be. Even great Christian figures, like the apostle Paul, cried out “For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do — this I keep doing “ (Romans 7:19). But, praise be to God who knew our weakness and who sent to us a Savior, Christ Jesus. Praise God that He came to us while we were yet sinners. God meets us where we are in our sin and brokenness. We are not alone. We not only have Jesus, but through the power of the Holy Spirit, God gives us the strength and wisdom of a united church linking arms and marching together. All of this reinforces God's goodness and His desire for a perfect, pure and holy church. Amen!
