The first Christmas was a magical, divine moment. As the memory of the angels, shepherds and wiseman faded, Mary and Joseph and their family most likely returned to a normal Jewish life. Luke 2:41-52 pulls up the curtain on an event in Jesus' life at age 12 years old. Jesus' mission on earth was to follow His Heavenly Father and His earthly father. Jesus' divine obligations overshadow his earthly obligations. Verse 51 states “Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth and was obedient to them“. At some point, Mary and Joseph had to release Jesus to His Heavenly Father. As Christmas 2024 fades into a memory for us, we also need to submit ourselves to God's promise. We need to allow God into our ordinary, routine lives. Christ's light of Christmas is in our world and His light does not fade after the Christmas tree has been taken down.
