Romans 9
June 16, 2024 | RomansGuest speaker, Heith Wetzler, takes Canvas Church through Chapter 9 in the book of Romans today. Claudius, the Roman Emperor, expelled all Jews from the city of Rome for approximately 10 years until the new Emperor, Nero, allowed them to return. By that time the Christian church had become entirely gentile. When the Jews returned the gentiles questioned Jewish customs and culture. The gentile church also questioned God's promises and faithfulness to the Jewish people. The Apostle Paul passionately writes to encourage unity in the church and a better understanding of God's righteousness for everyone. In our current day, we also need to clearly see ourselves, others, common culture and society in the light of God's righteousness. He is Holy and we are not. Our only hope of clearly seeing the correct path is to submit to God's righteousness and trust in His will for our lives.
