Elizabeth: Waiting and Praying

John the Baptist is one of many miraculous births in the Bible. His parents, Zechariah and Elizabeth, stayed faithful to God in their prayer life and devotion even when they were not getting an answer to their prayers of having a child. Decades passed and humanly speaking conceiving a child was impossible. Yet, God, in His time and for His purpose, spoke these beautiful words “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer is heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John” (Luke 1:13). We are to be faithful in our prayer life and devotion to God despite our circumstances. We are to bring our prayers before God and allow Him to show us that He cares. Understanding that when God answers us with “your prayer is heard”, we are to praise Him and also pass the blessing on to others. Who knows, our blessing to others may just be the answer to their prayers!
